About Single Sign-On and Two-Factor Authentication

What is Single Sign-On (SSO)?

Single Sign-On (SSO) is an authentication method that allows users to log in to multiple applications and websites with one set of credentials. SSO combines multiple application login screens into one, so users only need to enter their login credentials once on a single page to access all of their applications.

What is Two-Step Authentication?

Two-Step, also known as Two-Factor (2FA), authentication is an extra layer of security used to authenticate users who are trying to gain access to an online account. First, a user enters their username and password. Once entered, before gaining access, they are required to provide another piece of information.

We highly recommend you enable some form of two-step authentication for your account.

Consumer Marketing supports the Google Authenticator App, or hardware authenticators such as Apple Touch ID, Windows Hello, or YubiKey USB keys.

What is Google Authentication?

Google Authenticator is a software-based authenticator by Google. It implements multi-factor authentication services using the time-based one-time password and HMAC-based one-time password, for authenticating users of software applications.

What is a Hardware Token?

A hardware token is a physical device used to gain access to an electronically restricted resource. It acts like an electronic key. The token is used in addition to a password as step 2 in a Two-Step Authentication process.
