Working in offline mode
When a device becomes disconnected from the Internet, an employee with the appropriate access level can access the offline mode and resume using the point of sale.
While in offline mode, the connection status changes to the red cloud icon. All the functionalities that work in online mode are also available in offline mode. When the Internet connection is back, the device returns to online mode and syncs with Back Office.
Opening a shift in offline mode
When the application goes into offline mode, employees who are already clocked in do not need to clock in again. If an employee arrives to start a new shift, a manager, or an employee with the appropriate access level, must authorize the start of the shift.
- Access the PIN entry screen on the POS device.
- Type your four-digit PIN, tap Clock In, and then tap Go to POS.
-OR-
Type your four-digit PIN and tap Log In.
The Open Shift screen appears. - Tap Open Shift and perform all ticket entry and payment related operations.
When a device returns to online mode, the following occurs:
- Silver Essentials replicates and synchronizes the data, including orders and shifts, from the offline device.
- Silver Essentials converts the offline mode orders to online mode orders, making them accessible to all connected, online mode devices.
