Language settings
Set up language preferences to display messages for both customers and cashiers on the POS and printed receipts, allowing users from different linguistic backgrounds to interact in their preferred language. This is a global setting for languages, allowing you to define the default language and add any additional languages supported by NVL.
-
On the left navigation panel, expand Admin and click Configuration Settings. The following screen will appear:
-
Click Language Settings. The Default and Additional Languages drop-down will appear.
-
Expand Default and Additional Languages to access the individual drop-down menus for both default and additional languages (optional).
-
The table below displays the standard language codes supported in NVL:
Language Code English (United States) en-US Spanish (United States) es-US French (Canada) fr-CA -
The default language in NVL is set to 'en-US'. To change it, click the Default Language Code drop-down and select your preferred language.
-
The Additional Supported Language (Optional) drop-down displays all available languages except the one selected as the default.
-
Once you configure the default and additional languages, click Save Changes. A popup will appear to confirm the changes made to the language selections:
-
Click Save. A message 'Succesfully saved language settings.' will appear on the Language Settings screen.
The language selections will apply to all new promotions and loyalty programs. For existing ones, the selected languages will take effect only when the promotions or loyalty programs are modified.
The following fields are dynamically updated based on the changes made to these settings:
- Customer Approval Message - The message displayed to customers during approval.
- Scorecard Text - Text shown in the promotion and loyalty program flow.
- Receipt Text - Text printed on customer receipts.
- Printed Message reward - Includes loyalty and offer tags printed as part of rewards.
- Cashier Message reward - Notifications or prompts shown to the cashier.
- Coupon Template (Trigger Code) - The template used for generating coupons as part of a reward.
The default language is selected to serve as backup display text on the POS when the requested additional language fields are left empty in the NVL UI.
