Data Sharing provides a modern and secure method for sharing NCR Voyix solution data to support customer and third-party integrations. This solution replaces legacy SQL replication mechanisms used by Insight and NCR Voyix Back Office (NBO). It can be used alongside or as an alternative to Business Services Layer (BSL) services for data access.

Benefits of Data Sharing

• Daily Data Delivery — Enables automated, scheduled delivery of data on a daily basis to ensure timely access.
• Cloud Storage Access — Provides seamless integration with cloud storage platforms for scalable and secure data retrieval.
• Batch and Aggregate Data Support — Facilitates efficient handling of large datasets through batch processing and data aggregation.
• Parquet File Format — Delivers data in Parquet format, optimized for performance and compatibility with modern analytics tools.

Key elements of Data Sharing

• Data Owner — The customer producing the data to be shared.
• Data Consumer — The entity downloading the data, identified by their DevEx service account (customer, corporate, thrid-party).
• Data Set — A collection of related data points, organized in a structured format similar to a table (Sales Totals, Item Sales, Comp Summary, and much more).
• Data Feed — A collection of data sets made available to a specified Data Consumer for a given group of sites. It is the combination of sites, data sets, and data consumer.

About data

Following are some key pointers of a data:

• Self-defined — Relevant configuration data included in data sets.
• EOD Trigger — Data generation triggered by a site’s end-of-day.
• Signed URLs — Data made available via signed URLs with a one-hour TTL.
• Data Retention — Data is maintained in cloud storage for seven days from time of generation.
• Parquet file format — Open-source and columnar data file format designed for efficient data storage and retrieval; especially for large-scale datasets. It is a binary file format, making it not human-readable.
• Updated Data — Data updated in the store (punch edits, transation log updates) DOB is reuploaded in its entirety and new Data Sharing files are generated and is denoted in the file name as an updated version for DOB.
